About Our Research

Our scientific goal is to bridge computational and experimental approaches to decode complex diseases and comprehend underlying bio-molecular mechanisms. Making data talk and illuminating hidden patterns is what keeps us motivated. We focus on both technique-driven algorithm development to hypothesis-driven investigation of a specific biological phenomenon. Our areas of investigation include RNA processing, regulatory network systems, high throughput transcriptomics, proteomics and epigenomics. We develop computational and machine learning models leveraging multi-omic datasets to understand the fundamental and translational aspects of brain's resilience in various neurological disorders.

Deciphering RNA homeostasis

Several studies reported compromised RNA homeostasis in many neurological disorders. Deleterious changes in RNA are linked to cellular function and integrity. Despite that our understanding of RNA splicing, localization, alternative polyadenylation and translation in neurological disorders is limited. We develop computational tools and investigate various aspects of RNA processing, disease relevance and underlying molecular mechanisms.

Multi-omics

Integrative omic techniques provide a deeper holistic view of underlying biological systems. We design and conduct multi-omic integrative analyses to systematically decipher the molecular dynamics in human diseases and identify new biomarkers that are otherwise incomplete or not realized from individual omic studies.
